Sewbo Containerized Sewing Microfactory reference layout
Reference microfactory layout. Final configuration depends on the product and production requirements.

A factory in a shipping container

The microfactory packages an automated textile production line into a modified ISO 40-foot high-cube container. It can travel as intermodal freight and place production capacity close to where it is needed.

The container includes dedicated production and utility areas, insulation, HVAC, lighting, electrical distribution, plumbing, pneumatics, and onboard wash/dry equipment.

The reference configuration produces reusable fabric face masks. The same platform can be configured for other simple sewn goods by adapting product tooling, material handling, sewing operations, and the process sequence.

From fabric to finished product

Sewbo’s water-soluble fabric-stabilization process temporarily makes flexible textiles rigid enough for reliable robotic handling. Stabilized material can be cut, positioned, joined, and sewn using conventional industrial automation. After assembly, the stabilizer is rinsed away and the fabric returns to its normal flexible state.

  1. Stabilize: Fabric is temporarily stiffened for repeatable robotic handling.
  2. Cut: Automated cutting equipment prepares components for assembly.
  3. Assemble and sew: Robots position components and present them to joining and industrial sewing operations.
  4. Rinse and finish: Onboard processing removes the stabilizer and prepares the sewn product for use.
